GSM01 Monthly Global 9-km Merged Products

Three monthly products generated by the GSM01 semi-analytical merging model are available: the chlorophyll a concentration, the combined absorption coefficient of dissolved and detrital material at 443 nm and the particulate backscattering at 443 nm. These products were derived using the merged level 3, daily, binned normalized water-leaving radiances from SeaWiFS and MODIS-Aqua. The merged data are in a Standard Mapped Image format similar to that of the OBPG. The GSM01 merging model is fully described in:

Data version: 3, completed February, 2007
Spatial coverage: Global 90°S - 90°N
Spatial resolution: 9km
Temporal resolution: Monthly

Note: The results derived using Giovanni are dependent on the GrADS averaging functions aave and ave (when data is averaged over space and/or time). The use of different averaging methods on the data will produce slightly different results.
