OBPG MODIS-Aqua Monthly Global 9-km Products

This interface is designed for visualization and analysis of the OBPG MODIS-Aqua Monthly Global 9-km Products. Users can generate plots or ASCII Output for area average (Area Plot), time series (Time Plot), and Hovmoller diagram. The animation is available only for Area Plot. Selecting here or the Help buttons will open a new window with detailed help. More details about the data are also available.

Data Description

OBPG MODIS-Aqua Monthly Global 9-km Products

The data products available for analysis are 9-km spatial resolution MODIS Aqua monthly SMI (Standard Mapped Image) products from the Ocean Biology Processing Group (OBPG). These data products are generated with data processing methods similar to those applied to SeaWiFS and are not the same as the standard MODIS Aqua products archived by the GES DISC DAAC (see http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/ for more information). Four of these products are ocean products: chlorophyll a concentration, diffuse attenuation coefficent at 488 nm, normalized water-leaving radiance at 551 nm, and sea surface temperature. Two of the products are atmospheric products: Angstrom coefficient 531-869 nm, and aerosol optical thickness at 869 nm.

Data version: 1, reprocessing 1.1, completed August 4, 2005
Spatial coverage: Global 90°S - 90°N
Spatial resolution: 9km x 9km
Temporal resolution: Monthly
Documentation: MODIS/Aqua Level 3 SMI Data
